Cars, SUVs will be launched in upcoming Joytown events in Mumbai and Bengaluru.
This weekend, BMW held the first Joytown festival at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. The new XM performance SUV, the upgraded and electrified M340i, and the S1000RR superbike were among the three new BMW items the automaker unveiled during the event. Five further cars and SUVs are scheduled to debut in January 2023.
The Mumbai and Bengaluru Joytown events will see the introduction of the final five BMW vehicles—there won’t be any Mini vehicles this time around. Others are among BMW’s best-selling models, while others of the debuts are facelifts. The reason the corporation adopted this strategy is probably that it won’t be at the next Auto Expo. According to BMW India, this is an effort to connect with a larger audience.
The BMW Joytown festival
The Joytown event combines the best of what each of the BMW, Mini, and BMW Motorrad brands have to offer in a single, expansive fairground. The carnival-like brand immersion event includes food trucks, vehicles, and bikes, as well as music. A must-do passenger seat drift experience in BMW’s M cars is also on the schedule, along with opportunities to have a hands-on look at Mini and BMW vehicles.
If you weren’t able to attend the Delhi event, Joytown will also be presented in Mumbai on January 7 and 8, 2023, at the Bandra Kurla Complex, and in Bengaluru on January 28 and 29, 2023, at the Manpho Convention Centre. The brand-new X1 will be unveiled at the latter, and entrance tickets are available on Paytm.
New 7 Series and i7
BMW has made significant progress with the current seventh-generation 7 Series. It’s not just the most opulent, luxuriant, and technologically advanced BMW ever, though it certainly is; it’s also probably the most fiercely competitive S-Class rival ever. The edgy appearance is what draws your notice first, particularly the new split headlight and the long flat bonnet.
Interior design is even more avant-garde and modern, obviously more upscale, and brimming with novel shapes, forms, and materials. The LED strip across the dash has a crystal-like quality that is really appealing, and it stands out thanks to details like the concealed AC vents and modern materials. There is a tonne of space and comfort at the back, as well as touchscreen controls.
In essence, the new i7 sedan is an all-electric 7 Series. It shares the same CLAR architecture as the 7 Series and has an identical exterior design. Internally, BMW is even considering it as a different powertrain option. The i7 has a 101.7kWh battery and a WLTP test cycle range of 590–625km. It generates 544 hp from dual electric motors in xDrive 60 specification, which is the one that will likely be sold in India.
BMW X7 facelift
New aesthetics, an upgraded engine, new drive systems, and a revamped interior are all features of the redesigned X7. Additionally, it has a fully new nose with split headlamps. The interior features the newest curved infotainment screen from BMW, which features a 14.9-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The engines have also been changed; the diesel employs a 352hp inline six-cylinder engine, while the 40i receives a 380hp inline six-cylinder petrol engine, an increase of 40hp and 87hp over their present specifications in India, respectively. Both engines receive a 12hp and 200Nm electric boost when connected to 48V mild hybrid technology.
BMW 3 Series Gran Limo facelift
Although it had a difficult start, the 3 Series Gran Limo is now among BMW’s top sales. BMWs will receive a new exterior and interior as part of the revamp, and electric engines are also anticipated. The revised LED headlights have blue accents, a new appearance BMW kidney grille, and a sharper cut front bumper up front.
The interior makeover includes a new, “leather”-covered dash and the curved display from BMW. It looks sufficiently upmarket thanks to the waterfall-effect diffused mood lighting, and as always, Indian passengers will appreciate the enormous amount of space and legroom in the back.
New BMW X1
At the Bengaluru Joytown event, BMW will unveil the all-new X1, one of their best-selling models in India. The design of the infant X5 is significantly more “square” and “stand-up.” It gains a flatter bonnet, a bigger grille, and an expanded back as well. With a length of 4,500mm, the BMW X1 is also longer than competitors like the 4,484mm Audi Q3.
BMW and Mini’s front-wheel drive FAAR platform, which has been revised and improved greatly from the previous UKL platform, is found beneath the new X1 (codename U11). The new platform is more modular in design and is readily converted into a full electric vehicle.
On the inside is a substantially more upmarket-looking cabin which gets better materials and a more open design. The frameless curved display enhances the look of the cabin and the new-age sloping dash with its chrome-framed vents has a character of its own. The cabin also gets the ‘floating’ centre armrest from the iX EV, and, in the rear, there’s more space and legroom. You can even slide the second row forward and back for more space. Boot space is also useful at 500 litres.
