Toyota has shown the updated look of the Hilux. It has a moderate hybrid diesel powertrain and a few minor design tweaks. Even if the Hilux isn’t exactly a volume puller in India, there are still some additional benefits. Changes to the Hilux may hint at what’s to come for the Fortuner. Now, let’s discuss the Toyota Hilux redesign.
New specifications
Let’s start by discussing the requirements before moving on to the design and interiors. With its new mild-hybrid arrangement on its 2.8-liter diesel engine, the Hilux gets a facelift. This system consists of a start/stop system, a tiny battery pack, and an electric motor generator. Given that the Fortuner and the full-size SUV use the same 2.8-liter diesel engine, there’s a good likelihood that this configuration will appear on the larger SUV.
Toyota Hilux facelift
Toyota made some minor adjustments to the Hilux facelift. Depending on the model, it now has a variable grille style up front. The front bumper has also been changed, giving the vehicle a more muscular appearance. Toyota has also included four rear and two front parking sensors. There are no modifications to the interior, but Toyota has included some new conveniences like wireless phone charging, auto up/down on all four windows, and dual-zone climate control.
Coming on Fortuner?
Whether Toyota will introduce the updated Hilux to India is still to be determined. Nonetheless, there’s a good probability the company may refresh the Fortuner in its middle years. This displayed the mild hybrid configuration along with a few new features. Keep in mind that the facelift is not the same as the upcoming model, which is also being developed.
