Based on the mid-tier Sportz trim, Hyundai has unveiled a new Sportz (O) variation for the i20 in India. With a price tag of Rs 9.80 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), the new model is more feature-rich than the Sportz variation. What is known about the Hyundai i20 Sportz (O) model is as follows:
Hyundai i20 Sportz (O): Changes
The new i20 Sportz (O), which is based on the Sportz trim, comes with three new features that were only available on the top-spec Asta and Asta (O) models. The largest of them is an electric sunroof; other accessories include leatherette door inserts and wireless chargers.
The Hyundai i20 Sportz trim level came well-equipped with features including automatic climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reverse parking camera with a sensor, cruise control, and a driver’s seat that could be adjusted in height. The new Sportz (O) version has several safety features, including automatic headlights, hill-start assistance, TPMS, ESC, ABS with EBD, and six airbags.
Even while the new model comes with additional equipment, it still lacks amenities like ambient lighting, push-button start/stop, keyless entry, LED headlights and taillights, diamond-cut alloy wheels, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, to name a few.
Hyundai i20 Sportz (O): Powertrain
The new Hyundai i20 Sportz (O) variant’s lone powertrain option is a 1.2-liter Kappa petrol engine, which generates 82 horsepower and 115 Nm of peak torque. The sole manual gearbox available for this system is a 5-speed unit that is said to provide 21 km/l of fuel efficiency.
Single-tone and dual-tone color options for the new i20 version are priced at Rs 9.80 lakh and Rs 9.90 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, and Tata Altroz—the only other model in this market to offer a sunroof at Rs 8.38 lakh, on-road Mumbai—are the Hyundai i20’s competitors in India.
