Full Size SUV Sales Jan 2024: With 3,213 sales in January 2024 compared to 3,698 sales in the same month the previous year, and a YoY negative volume growth of 13%, Toyota’s Fortuner maintained its dominant position atop the full-size SUV sales charts. It is anticipated that the Ford Endeavour, one of the Fortuner’s most formidable competitors, will reappear via the CBU route in 2019.
Toyota has been gradually introducing the Hilux mild hybrid in a number of international markets, and it is currently considering launching a Fortuner with a similar specification. India may be among the first nations to adopt this technology due to the Fortuner’s enormous popularity there. The GD series diesel engine’s acceleration, fuel efficiency, and overall performance are all enhanced by this mild hybrid system.
Furthermore, less CO2 emissions will be produced. After selling 139 units compared to 244 units in the same period in 2023, the MG Gloster finished in second place, experiencing a 43% YoY volume decline. We anticipate a mid-cycle update for the seven-seater in the upcoming months, since the test mule has already been spotted conducting testing.

Later this year, the Chinese company SAIC, which owns the British manufacturer, will launch its third electric car in India. The VW Tiguan saw a YoY sales increase of 57% last month, ranking it as the third most popular full-size SUV in the nation with 113 registered units compared to 72 during the same period last year.
In January 2023, the Jeep Meridian sold 110 units compared to 200 units, representing a YoY decline of 45%, while the Skoda Kodiaq sold 53 units compared to 196 units, indicating a YoY decline in sales of 73%. With major internal and external evolutionary upgrades, the second-generation Kodiaq is now offered in international markets.
Similarly, the updated MQB-Evo architecture powers the new Kodiaq and the new generation Volkswagen Tiguan, both of which are sold overseas.
