Drivers of petrol or diesel cars can fill up their tanks at nearly any fuel pump without giving it a second thought. For EV drivers, it’s not so easy. This is because electric cars today come equipped with a variety of charge ports, ranging from the unique CHAdeMO to the more widely used Combined Charging System (CCS) and Tesla’s unique NACS, or North American Charging Standard.

It appears that other automakers are ready to make Tesla’s technology the norm in the sector. The company’s vast network of Superchargers and its NACS charging port is widely regarded as the industry standard. The first to agree to work with Tesla and implement the NACS plug was Ford in May 2023. After that, other automakers soon announced their agreements with Tesla, and the House of Cards began to fall. The NACS connector will be standardized, according to a statement made by the technical body SAE International.

We’ve put up a list of the automakers that we know are in talks to join, along with the charging networks and other manufacturers that we believe will be using Tesla’s connector. As new agreements are confirmed or we learn of more possible partnerships, we’ll update this list.

Vehicle Manufacturers Who Have Agreed to Use Tesla’s Charging Plug
