Maruti Suzuki’s micro SUV, internally codenamed Y43, is scheduled to debut in India in 2026–2027 and is expected to compete with vehicles like the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter.
Maruti: The biggest automaker in the nation, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), is currently riding high on the SUV trend. With the introduction of the Grand Vitara, Fronx, New Brezza, and Jimny in the past two years, the domestic automaker has gained a respectable share of the SUV market. Many new SUVs are planned and anticipated to go on sale in the upcoming years in order to maintain the company’s growth trajectory.

Maruti Suzuki will be able to enter new markets thanks to these upcoming SUVs, increasing its market share. In the utility vehicle market, the company holds a market share of more than 20%. One of the upcoming sports utility vehicles is a micro-SUV that is being developed to compete with the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter.
The micro-SUV is expected to go on sale in India sometime in 2026–2027, according to the most recent media reports. In the lineup of the brand, the new micro-SUV will be positioned beneath the Brezza. A proper SUV with a butch stance, similar to the competitors in the segment, is urgently needed, even though high-riding hatchbacks like the S-Presso and Ignis are currently leading the way in the micro-SUV segment.
Although Maruti new project is still in the early stages of development, we anticipate it to be shorter than four metres in length. With its next micro-SUV, the Japanese automaker will be aiming for a number of key features, including a commanding diving position, a high ground clearance, and an appropriate SUV-like stance.
When it comes to the design, we should anticipate something akin to the Grand Vitara and Fronx, the company’s most recent SUV models. Part sharing will be the norm inside the cabin thanks to amenities like a flat-bottom steering wheel, six airbags, an automated HVAC system, push-button start/stop, and a large touchscreen infotainment system.
The 1.2-liter Z-Series mild-hybrid petrol engine, which will soon make its debut in the new-generation Swift, is anticipated to provide power for the upcoming Y43 micro-SUV. It will be available with both an automatic and manual gearbox. Apart from this, Maruti Suzuki is getting ready to introduce its first electric vehicle, the eVX, which is a 7-seater SUV based on the Grand Vitara.
