In January 2024, the brand’s sales chart is dominated by the Royal Enfield Classic 350, although the Bullet 350 has seen a sharp increase in sales.
Royal Enfield: With a remarkable display of its capacity for both domestic and international sales, Royal Enfield has had an amazing start to the year. January 2024 saw an exciting overall spike in sales for the brand, solidifying its standing as a dominant player in the Indian two-wheeler market’s premium motorcycle segment.
Royal Enfield Domestic Sales
With sales up 7.19% year over year (YoY) from January 2023, the enduring Classic 350 is leading the way domestically. The overwhelming demand for this vintage motorbike is demonstrated by the 29,013 units that were sold in January 2024. A 12.21% surge is seen in the Bullet 350 as well. A surprising turn of events, though, was the Hunter 350’s sales dropping by 18.33%.
In contrast, the Himalayan saw an astounding 33.25% increase in sales, which can be attributed to riders’ increasing desire for adventure and off-road prowess. A remarkable 129.8% increase in the 650 twins, or the Continental GT and Interceptor, stole the show, indicating a growing desire for models with larger displacement.
Unexpectedly, sales of the Royal Enfield Super Meteor dropped by 35.3%, highlighting the difficulties in launching a new model in a cutthroat industry. Since we do not currently have sales data for the recently released Shotgun 650, it is not represented in the sales chart for January 2024.
Exports from India
Putting the focus on exports abroad, the 650 twins saw a slight decrease in sales of 11.57%. However, the widespread recognition of these strong models is not overshadowed by this subtle decline. With an astounding 86.1 percent increase in exports, the Meteor 350 became another worldwide favourite.
Even after declining by 23.2%, Classic 350 is still competitive worldwide. With a slight decline of 2.48%, the Super Meteor showed a comparatively steady performance in global markets. A striking contrast emerges, highlighting the variation in model preferences among various regions: the Hunter 350 exports significantly declined by 73.15%. Likewise, the Bullet 350 and Himalayan saw decreases of 22.52% and 17.52%, in that order. The Shotgun 650 has been left out once more because its sales numbers are still unknown.
