In India, the Tata Tiago CNG is the first CNG vehicle with an automatic gearbox option.
The Tata Tiago CNG:Tata has been introducing new ideas to our market regarding the availability of factory-fitted Tata Tiago CNG vehicles. Following the 2023 introduction of twin-cylinder technology, the Indian automaker has now introduced a factory-installed, industry-first automatic transmission option for the CNG version of the Tiago/Tigor duo.
Currently, the Tiago CNG has the following additional benefits over competitors in its segment:
Automatic Gearbox Tata Tiago CNG
The Tata Tiago CNG is now the first vehicle in India with the option of an automatic gearbox (5-speed AMT unit). A 1.2-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine producing 73.5 PS and 95 Nm when powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) is mated to an automatic transmission.

Dual-cylinder technology Tata Tiago CNG
With the Altroz iCNG last year, Tata debuted the dual-cylinder technology. Now, the Tiago and other CNG vehicles in the manufacturer’s lineup include this technology. The dual-cylinder technology uses two smaller cylinders than other CNG options on the market, which gives the boot a little bit more room.
4-star Safety Rating
In 2020, the Global NCAP awarded the Tiago a 4-star crash test rating; by contrast, the hatchback’s direct competitors have either not been tested or have received a lower rating.
Extra Features
Tata is providing the CNG AMT in the higher-end XT, XZ+, and XZ NRG trims for the whole CNG lineup. This indicates that it has additional features like an eight-speaker sound system, rain-sensing wipers, TPMS, push-button start/stop, rear washer with wiper, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
More CNG Variants
The Grand i10 Nios’ entry-level Magna and Sportz models from Hyundai come with CNG. The LXI and VXI versions of the Celerio and WagonR are also available with CNG from Maruti Suzuki. But the Tiago CNG comes with more expensive models that offer top-notch features that aren’t found in other models.
The Tata Tiago CNG currently has the following benefits over its competitors:. The range of its prices, ex-showroom, pan-India, is Rs 7.90 lakh to Rs 8.80 lakh.
