Five-door By the middle of this year, the Mahindra Thar will be available for purchase in India. Compared to its 3-door sibling, it will be larger.

Rajesh Jejurikar, executive director and chief executive officer of Mahindra Thar and Mahindra, stated during an earnings call that the five-door Thar will be unveiled in India by the middle of this year. The upcoming Thar has surely been one of the most eagerly awaited launches of 2024, having already been spotted testing several times.

According to Jejurikar, the Mahindra Thar five-door might be called the Thar Armada and it will be constructed on a different production line. The domestic producer unveiled the Thar Earth Edition of the current three-door model yesterday. Comparatively speaking, the five-door model will be positioned more premium and have larger dimensions.

Furthermore, the concept form of the electrified Thar was shown at the Futurescape event in South Africa, and it is anticipated to arrive by 2026. There will be significant external changes soon, such as a redesigned front grille and bumper and the addition of LED technology to the headlights, tail lights, turn signals, and fog lamps.

Changes to the rear door handles and rear quarter glass area are also anticipated. New 19-inch alloy wheels will most likely be seen on the top-spec models. Higher-spec versions should have a dual-tone theme throughout the cabin. The all-digital instrument console may resemble the one found on the XUV700, and the redesigned centre console will house a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The current three-door Mahindra Thar’s 2.0L mStallion four-cylinder petrol engine and its 2.2L mHawk four-cylinder diesel engine, both with six-speed manual and automatic gearbox options, will power the 2024 five-door Thar. Moreover, the output torque and power may be identical. The equipment list will be more upscale, with a starting price of anticipated to be slightly over Rs. 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
