Lexus LBX 2JZ: Move over GR Yaris and GR Corolla—there’s a new drift king in town, and it’s disguised as a cute little Lexus SUV. The LBX Lexus’ premium baby crossover, has just been transformed into a 1,000-horsepower drift missile thanks to none other than Toyota’s legendary 2JZ engine.
Yes you read that right. The same engine that powered the legendary Toyota Supra now powers a tiny Lexus SUV and it’s more powerful than a Bugatti Veyron. Kazama Industries unveiled this insane build at the Tokyo Auto Salon, and it’s already turning heads.

Drift Build With Serious Intent
While the stock Lexus LBX Morizo RR is already impressively quick, Kazama Industries decided that wasn’t enough. The original 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine has been completely ditched. It is replaced by a stroked 3.6-liter turbocharged 2JZ inline-six that, when properly tuned, produces more over 1,000 horsepower.
Rear-wheel drive was chosen over all-wheel drive since this is a drift car, offering drivers the control they need to toss the LBX sideways at high speeds. A race-spec fuel cell and a five-speed sequential gearbox were added to manage that incredible power.

Extreme Styling to Match the Power
You won’t mistake this LBX for a stock SUV. A wild widebody package with flared arches, a huge carbon fiber splitter, a vented hood, and a large rear wing was provided by Artisan Spirits. Wilwood brake give stopping power, and Rays wheels with Yokohama Advan AD09 tires provide grip beneath the fenders.
Even the steering has been modified with an electric system to enable extreme angles for perfect drift entries and transitions, and the suspension is completely aftermarket and optimized for drifting.
Kazama Industries’ GR86 Sibling
With the LBX, Kazama didn’t stop. Additionally they introduced a GR86 drift build with the same 3.6-liter 2JZ engine, aiming for the same 1,000 horsepower. Rays wheels, Wilwood brakes, sequential transmission and track ready widebody kits are shared by both models.
It’s obvious that Kazama Industries wants to rule Formula D, and they’re doing it in style. They’re not here to make small adjustments.
Why This Build Matters
- Power Overload: A tiny Lexus SUV packing more horsepower than a Veyron is mind-blowing.
- Drift-Ready Engineering: Every aspect—from suspension to steering—is designed for controlled chaos.
- Eye-Catching Design: The LBX proves that small SUVs can be both cute and extreme.
- Toyota Legacy: Using the legendary 2JZ engine guarantees instant street and track credibility.
This LBX isn’t just a car—it’s a statement: even the most “practical” vehicles can be extreme when the right engineers get their hands on them.
