Electric vehicles are ideal for last-mile deliveries: those journeys from the Amazon fulfillment center to your home, enabling you to receive that crucial Stanley tumbler on the same day you made an impulsive purchase. With the 2024 ProMaster EV, an electric variant of its full-size commercial van that will be available in a range of specifications, Ram is now entering the market.

The ProMaster EV’s 110.0-kWh battery can only go 162 miles in cities on a single charge because long road journeys are not its primary purpose. Even though this amount seems small, it ought to be sufficient for a full day of delivery. While the Level 2 onboard charger can only handle up to 11 kW, the vehicle will be able to fast-charge at up to 150 kW using Level 3 DC technology. A 268-hp electric motor located on the front axle provides 302 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels only, powering the ProMaster EV.

The battery is located in the center of the van beneath the floor, sharing the same architecture as the gasoline-powered variant. Ram states that the interior cargo height of 86 inches and the potential 524 cubic feet of payload remain the same. The ProMaster EV will be available in two cargo models, measuring 12 feet and 13 feet, and a delivery-focused vehicle. All three versions will be supported by a 159-inch wheelbase.

In addition, the delivery model has a heated steering wheel, heated windscreen, and an extremely high roof configuration. Details regarding the freight variants’ equipment were lacking. There will eventually be five different variants for the ProMaster EV, according to Ram, including two roof heights, two cargo lengths, and two body types. For the cargo variant, the payload capacity is rated at 3020 pounds, while for the delivery configuration, it is 2030 pounds.

Last-mile delivery drivers will benefit from the ProMaster EV’s lightweight yet sturdy anodized aluminium rear roll-up door. Ram Telematics, which records data to offer insights on reducing fuel use, enhancing route efficiency, and promoting safer driving, will also be installed in the van. The van will also have Amazon’s virtual assistant, Alexa, and the navigation system will use the Uconnect phone app to provide walking directions from the car to the ultimate location.
