In India, electric vehicles are still in their infancy. There aren’t any EVs that can effectively compete with ICE cars because of the limited possibilities. That is anticipated to change soon, though. Anticipated electric vehicles are anticipated to not only rival but surpass their gasoline-powered predecessors. Which EVs are these? Let’s investigate.

Tata Curvv EV

This year, Tata is set to introduce its next major offering, the Curvv EV. The Curvv is anticipated to launch in the middle of 2024 and open up the market for electric C-SUVs. Tata hasn’t disclosed the specs, although it’s anticipated to include the Gen-2 motor. The Curvv should undoubtedly have greater power than other vehicles in this class given the upgraded powertrain. The Curvv has a distinct design because of its coupe-SUV appearance. The EV version will have a distinct identity even if it will also make its debut on the ICE Curvv. The vehicle’s interior is anticipated to be fully equipped with features like a motorized tailboard, dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof.

Tata Harrier EV

The Harrier EV is another Tata EV that is anticipated to go into production. At the Auto Expo 2023, Tata has the Harrier EV on display. Tata would require some strong motors to power the SUV given its size. Additionally, the brand has stated that the Harrier EV would have all-wheel drive (AWD), which immediately gives it an advantage over the ICE Harrier. We should anticipate much more torque with AWD. We should also anticipate further features for the Harrier EV to draw in more customers. It is anticipated that the Harrier EV will be introduced by the end of 2024.

Upcoming EVs – Hyundai Creta EV

An electric version of the popular SUV in India, the Creta, is anticipated as well. In contrast to the makeover, the Creta EV is anticipated to receive a few minor modifications. A 45kWh battery pack is reportedly included in the Hyundai Creta EV. Technically speaking, the Creta EV should have a 135-horsepower motor that generates 255 Nm of torque. Even though the specifications don’t seem all that superior to the ICE version, there might be a significant difference in actual use. We could see certain EV-specific features, such as V2L, in terms of features. Additionally, anticipate a distinct color scheme for the Creta EV’s interior. It is anticipated that the Creta EV will be released by the end of 2024.

This year, the Mahindra XUV.e8 is another large SUV that will get an electric variant. The XUV.e8, which will be built on Mahindra’s EV-only INGLO platform, is essentially the XUV700 electric. It is anticipated to have a front powertrain with 80kW and 135Nm. It’s also possible that the rear powertrain has 380Nm of torque and 170kW of power. It is also anticipated that the XUV.e8 would have AWD choices. Mahindra might include 12.3-inch panels that span the whole dashboard to entice customers. These screens are all equipped with high-resolution displays. Additional improvements can be an enhanced navigation system, auto-dimming IRVM, HUD-connected automotive functions, and more. It is anticipated that the XUV.e8 will debut by the end of 2024.

The final vehicle on the list is another model that will be offered in the electric C-SUV market. Maruti hasn’t disclosed the eVX’s precise specs, although it’s reported to have both single and twin motor choices. Based on appearances, the eVX should have higher power and torque numbers than the Grand Vitara. Two different battery packs, 60kWh and 45kWh, could be used with the motors. With features like a digital instrument cluster, touch-based HVAC, a panoramic sunroof, ADAS, ventilated seats, and a high-end sound system, the eVX should have more features than any Maruti ICE vehicle. By year’s end, the eVX is anticipated to be introduced, and the price may be revealed in 2025.
