At the 2023 Auto Expo in India, the BYD Seal EV made its debut last year. March 5, 2024 has been confirmed as the date of the electric sedan’s launch. In the most recent development, the BYD Seal has been sighted throughout the nation while wearing very little camouflage.

The Chinese BYD Seal EV manufacturer is bringing its third model to the Indian market. Additionally, the BYD Seal EV’s unofficial reservations have started. The Seal EV will compete with vehicles like the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6 in the Indian market. It is available with two different battery pack options worldwide.

It will also compete with the Hyundai IONIQ 6, which is expected to go on sale early in 2019. With a single charge, the smaller 61.2 kWh battery pack can travel up to 500 kilometers, while the larger 82.5 kWh unit can travel up to 700 kilometers. The Blade battery pack from the brand allows for fast charging of up to 110 kW DC for the former and up to 150 kW for the latter.

Furthermore, two different powertrain combinations are available. The larger battery pack option is the only way to have the dual-motor setup; the single-motor setup is compatible with both battery packs. The dual motor all-wheel-drive setup, which produces 530 bhp of power, will be installed in the India-spec variant. It claims a timing of just 3.8 seconds from 0 to 100 kmph.

The BYD Seal EV will have the following measurements: a wheelbase of 2,920mm, length of 4,800mm, width of 1,875mm, and height of 1,460mm. The sedan will have the ocean-inspired “Seal” moniker and design direction of “Ocean Aesthetics” from the brand. A head-up display, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment system will all be included inside the cabin.

Regarding sticker price, the BYD Seal EV is anticipated to go on sale for approximately Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom). It might have a significant effect when it enters India’s premium electric vehicle market.
