It’s unlikely that most riders require a Moto GP-caliber bike for daily use, and inexperienced riders would be better served by saving their $100,000 on a less capable but more costly Ducati Superleggera V4. Beginners in motorcycle riding will want a vehicle that won’t require them to take out a second mortgage on their home, and most of Ducati’s high-performance bikes will be too much for them to handle.

However, this does not mean that inexperienced riders cannot enjoy the beauty of the craftsmanship on these magnificent motorcycles. It’s just an issue of differentiating between the new Ducati Motorcycles  2024 models appropriate for relatively novice riders and those that are terrifying and worthy of the track. Although Ducatis have not historically been designed with beginners in mind, there is a small but sweet selection of models that are appropriate for first-time riders, especially with the introduction of features like traction control and anti-lock brakes. Regardless of the vehicle you choose, exercise caution and always wear a helmet authorized by the DOT.

Monster

In 1993, Ducati debuted the M900 Monster, a popular 888-based chassis and 904cc air-cooled V-twin engine. The next year saw the release of the M600, which had a 584cc engine producing a respectable 51 horsepower. The Monster has undergone various improvements and reconfigurations in the thirty years afterward, including the installation of fuel injection and a digital dashboard with the 2000 M900ie. 2008 saw the introduction of three new versions with under-seat exhaust pipes and a 100 horsepower 1078cc engine, marking significant upgrades. In 2014, the Monster experienced a technological revolution that included the inclusion of electronic technologies, such as ride-by-wire, and the switch from air-cooled to water-cooled engines in the new M1200 and M1200S models.

Upon reviewing the new Ducati Motorcycles  2024 Monster Plus in December of last year, we discovered that it was an excellent option for novice riders, possessing sufficient vigor and appeal to accommodate riders of all abilities. The 366-pound Monster was pleasant to flat-foot at stoplights because it rode low and thin and was easy to manage. With the help of electronic riding modes, shifting became more comfortable and easy by reducing jerky throttle applications. At just over $13,000, the Monster was just as easy on the wallet as the derriére.

Scrambler

Another stalwart of the Bolognese manufacturer’s portfolio, the Monster is the only new Ducati Motorcycles  2024 that is priced lower. When the Ducati Scrambler made its debut in 1962, it immediately endeared itself to a culture that was starting to enjoy off-road riding, as we mentioned in our review of the 2024 Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle. Joseph Berliner created the design, and it was manufactured until 1976.

For the 2015 model year, Ducati updated the Scrambler, which was first seen at the 2014 Intermot motorcycle show in Cologne, Germany. Eight versions of the second-generation Scrambler were produced; the Sixty2 had a 399cc engine, while seven of the other variants used an 803cc L-twin engine. In 2017, the number of available Scrambler models was reduced to six, which included the Desert Sled, Cafe Racer, Icon, Classic, Full Throttle, and Sixty2. At just $10,995, the Scrambler Icon’s performance and reliable rider satisfaction are well within the budgets of the majority of purchasers.

Multistrada V2

You can locate a good beginner’s bike without going all the way down to the bottom of the Ducati lineup. The Multistrada V2 occupies a sweet spot between the top-tier Superleggera and the Scrambler and Monster models. The Multistrada logo debuted on the touring 1000DS model, which included a half fairing, two seats, and a compact luggage rack, for the 2003 model year. Since then, the Multistrada has seen numerous updates, with the V2 and V2S making their debut in the 2022 model year.

While the Multistrada V2 and V2S retain the touring heritage of the model, they also come equipped with an extensive feature set that makes them the most rider-friendly iterations of the model in its 21-year history. The 2017 950, the previous entry-level Multistrada, featured a wider and taller seat and weighed 11 pounds more. The V2S adds an electronically controlled suspension, traction control, and ABS, while the V2 allows riders to select between Urban, Touring, Sport, and Enduro modes.

For the V2, Ducati has a range of seat options that range from 31.9 to 33.5 inches above the road surface. For shorter riders, a suspension lowering kit can lower it to 31.1 inches.
