Honda Shine 100
Honda bikes has made its debut in the 100cc commuter motorcycle market in the nation with the Shine 100. Due to the Shine 125’s early success, the Japanese bike manufacturer is utilising the Shine brand for its new offering. Honda thinks it can also appeal to the same target market, even though the Hero Splendour has long dominated the 100cc bike market.
We spent a few hours testing the new Honda Shine 100 and doing everything we could to see how successful it is.
Although the styling of the Shine 100 is similar to that of its 125cc sibling, a closer look reveals that the baby Shine has a more straightforward design. Its bodywork is very plain Jane, and its fuel tank is quite flat and slim. This is a well-made, lightweight commuter bike without any creases, cuts, or bulky body panels.
The other components, such as the seat and single-piece grab rail, are exactly what you would anticipate from an inexpensive commuter bike, and even the headlight is fairly basic. But one peculiar detail caught our attention—and I’m sure it did for others as well—and that is Honda’s decision to omit a key fob from the Shine 100’s seat. Instead, a toolbox that can be opened with a coin or a screwdriver is located in the left side panel.
There are a few things inside once you open it, and we don’t think this is the most practical way to access a toolbox. We believe Honda could have done better, but this appears to have been done in an effort to keep the cost of production low.
Bajaj Platinum 100
The mileage bike Bajaj Platina 100 comes in two versions and four colours. The 102cc BS6 engine that powers the Bajaj Platina 100 produces 8.34 Nm of torque and 7.79 horsepower. The Bajaj Platina 100 has a combined braking system that uses drum brakes on both the front and rear wheels. With an 11-liter fuel tank, this Platina 100 bike weighs 117 kg.
An entry-level commuter motorcycle designed specifically for rural markets is the Bajaj Platina 100. Above it are the CT100 and CT110 models, which are the most economical Bajaj models. Both an electric start and a kick start are offered for this bike. Knuckle guards have been added to the bike by the Pune-based manufacturer to make it more practical.
