Based on the spy photos, the production version of the 5-door Mahindra Thar is anticipated to go on sale in the middle of 2024.
Mahindra Thar 5-Door
Mahindra Thar & Mahindra intends to launch the updated XUV300 in the Indian market in the coming months, which will be followed by the much-anticipated release of the Thar five-door variant. Its appeal was recently increased with the addition of a 2WD variant to the lineup of the lifestyle off-roader. It is anticipated that the forthcoming five-door model will have a more upscale appearance than the existing three-door model.
Several spy photos have shown the five-door Mahindra Thar being tested on public roads; here, we present a rendered image of the production model. With its larger dimensions and two additional doors for improved cabin space, the upcoming SUV may go by the name “Thar Armada.” Significant improvements are also anticipated in terms of features and equipment.
Some major exterior changes are planned, such as new grille and bumper designs, LED headlight, taillight, turn signal and fog lamp designs, and new rear quarter glass and rear door handles. It is anticipated that the top-spec models will have new alloy wheels that measure 19 inches.
A dual-tone theme will be present in the cabin of the higher-spec versions. Greater room for a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system will be provided by the redesigned centre console. The XUV700’s instrument console could be identical to this one as well, since it is entirely digital. Some have speculated that the infotainment system in the XUV300 and the 2024 XUV400 may be the same.
There will be a wide range of features available, including an electric sunroof, rear air conditioning vents, push-button start/stop, and more for greater comfort and convenience. Six airbags and disc brakes on all four wheels indicate that safety is a top priority. The lifestyle SUV is anticipated to have strong off-road performance because it shares the Scorpio N’s body-on-frame chassis and suspension system.
Available with six-speed manual or automatic gearbox options, the upcoming model will be powered by the same 2.0L mStallion petrol and 2.2L mHawk diesel engines found in the current mahindra three-door Thar. Once it arrives, the larger Thar is expected to make a big impression, with a starting price of slightly over Rs. 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
